Stairs can make a big impact in a home. Everything from their placement to the materials used can transform the look of your home. The position of your stairs can also affect how much liveable space you have upstairs. We have built hundreds of stairs down through the years and can tailor make something to suit your tastes.

We make, fit and repair all types of timber stairs. This includes;

  • Stair Alterations
  • Attic Folding Stairs
  • Full Fitting of Stairs

What to consider when choosing a fitted staircase?

Your staircase can be a feature in itself when somebody enters your home. The eye is generally drawn to the stairs and upwards. While they are essentially a functioning piece to get you from downstairs to upstairs and vice versa, this does not mean they have to be boring or plain! You can opt for something simple, sleek and elegant, or you can choose to go with something more elaborate and traditional. If you have a style on mind, or you have seen something you like in magazines or online, show us. We will let you know how it would work in your home.

Space
Knowing how much space you have will determine the width and how steep your stairs are. Do you want your stairs to be almost like a feature or is your prime goal to create more liveable space.
Material
Do you want a darker wood or something more like pine? Will you be using carpet over them? Knowing the look you want will make the process run much smoother.
Traffic
Will there be much traffic on the stairs? Will the stairs be used by the whole family daily – or will be used occasionally? This can help determine the type of wood you choose and if you want any special features.
Who will use this stairs?
Generally u-shaped stairs are considered the safest. The reason for this is that if somebody falls or trips, there are less steps to fall down, the fall will be broken. This is a good choice if you have young children or elderly people in the home.
